BEING HONEST IN ANY SITUATIONS
Being honest in whatever situation.
Honesty can be defined
as telling the truth or able to be trusted and not likely to steal, cheat or
lie. There is quote said, ‘honest hearts produce honest actions’. Honesty has a
very high value and it shows the sincerity of our action. As mentioned by the
Prophet, ‘When there is no more honesty, then wait for the Hour (the Day of
Judgement).” We can see nowadays, our society are lack with honesty value, and
a lots of deceit happened in many form such as ‘riba’, usury, bribery and
others. The nearest example that we can see is in our daily life as a student
is when we are given a task or assignment, there are some students who cheat in
their amanah by copying and plagiarizing others work and claiming it as their
work. This unhealthy habit should not be practiced by all students and various
efforts should be taken not only by the authority but also by the students
themselves to resolve and stop this issue.
As Allah mentioned in
Quran from surah At-Taubah, verse 119, “O you who believe! Fear God, and be
with those who are true (in word and deeds).” Ibn Katheer, the renowned Quran
scholar, explained the meaning of this verse saying that, “Being truthful and
adhering to truthfulness, means you will be among the people of the truth and
be saved from calamity and that it will make a way out for you from your
problems. Meanwhile, there is hadith mentioned that, “Truthfulness leads to
righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. In addition, a man keeps on
telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to
wickedness and evil doing, and wickedness leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man
may keep on telling lies till he is written before God, as a liar.” (Sahih
Al-Bukhari).
From the movie of
Bajrangi Bhaijaan by Kabir Khan, many scenes show honesty that can be reflected
in our daily life. First scene that attracts me is when Pawan (Salman Khan) and
Munni (Harshaali Malhotra) want to enter Pakistan. Both of them do not have
passports and visas, but with the help of an invader named Boo Ali, they manage
to pass the boarder of Pakistan through the tunnel under the sand. However, the
honest Pawan does not want to continue their journey unless getting permission
from the soldier of Pakistan who guarding the boarder. At their first catchment
by the soldiers, Pawan and Munni are released back to India, after telling the
truth to them, and the tunnel is closed by the soldiers. But Pawan does not
give up, they go pass the boarder using the second tunnel and wait for the
soldiers to get permission. Then, the soldiers beat Pawan harshly for
trespassing that country. Yet, Pawan still stands with his principle and keep
telling the truth that he wants to help Munni, sending her to her family. Pawan
even promises to go back to his country, India, as soon as he manages to send
Munni home. However, his appeal does not manage to smoothen the leader of the
soldier. They are sent back to India once again. For his third trial, Pawan
still patient and keep on telling the truth and sincerely. Looking at his
sincerity and good deed, the soldier finally gives permission to them to enter
Pakistan with a deal that Pawan needs to go back to India straight away after
reuniting Munni with her family. Regardless
of getting beaten by a group of soldiers, Pawan never breaks his promise
towards himself to keep being honest in his words.
Another scene is when
Pawan meets Rasika (Kareena Kapoor) for the first time in bus. As the conductor
bus does not have small money, Pawan needs to give 5Rupee to Rasika, but Rasika
refuses to receive it as both of them do not have small money to divide their
money. After exchanging the money from a stall, Pawan returns Rasika’s money
when he meets her later. Because of his honesty, Rasika starts to like him and
accepts him as a new acquaintance.
These show that, we as
a Muslim should practice honesty in our daily life in any situation and
difficulties. Difficulties that are given to us are tests for us, whether we
can still strong or giving up with it. As long as we believe that Allah is
always with us, then we can face any challenge in this life with open heart and
successfully.
