SOCIAL INTERACTIONS AND PATRIOTISM

SOCIAL INTERACTION AND PATRIOTISM.

Based on the story of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, I really love the way story portrays about the social interaction and the patriostime shown by both Indian and Pakistan’s society. They really love each other and their own country very much.

In Islam, we are taught to love our county and to have a good social interaction. This is because a good country comes from a good society. The strongest level of Brotherhood is the sense of community, friendship and common purpose for the sake of Allah. Based on the the surah al-Hujurat verse 10, Allah says that “The believers are but brothers so make reconciliation between your brothers and fear Allah that you may receive mercy” showing that, we should love each other. In one hadith, the Messenger of Allah said that, “None of you has faith until he loves his brother what he loves for himself”. It can be noted that, to achieve a peaceful life, and to really have a good faith to Allah is by loving our brothers. This is also shows that, from good individual will form a good family, and a good gamily will form a good society which is then lead to a good country.

I can take several examples from the scenes in the story. First of all, the story started with Shahida’s villagers from Pakistan watching crickets together in front of a television. They would shout happily when their team made scores. Besides, when Shahida (called as Munni by the indian) was lost and taken into Pawan’s family, they also watched crickets together and shouted happily when their team made scores except for Shahida because she is from Pakistan. Also, I’m impressed when seeing Shahida kissed her country’s flag on the tv, showing how grateful she was when her team won.
Second point that I want to point out is when Shahida fell from the cliff and went missing, the villagers help Shahida’s parents to find her. It did not take long time for them to notice and to make an immediate action to find her. Moreover, when the first time Pawan came to Rasika’s house (his current fiancée), her family greet their guest politely. They also gave him a good food and good hospitality. This is also what Islam teaches us, which is to respect our guest.

My last point is the scene of everyone supporting Pawan to be returned to his country. From this scene, we can see that how love and compassionate can move many hearts. The people of Pakistan, together, gathered at the gate of the border showing their decisions to let Pawan free.
To conclude, I think that this story portrays many Islamic values that we as muslims should practice. Good social interactions and loving our country are one of the values.
